Maybelle Octave Mandolin

An heirloom quality, artist class octave mandolin, made in the format of the 1920's Gibson L5 F hole guitars. Rich, resonant, open tone, with a very comfortable 20 & 1/4" string length. Back and sides of beautifully figured catalpa, top of finest Canadian Engelmann Spruce, wide even 1/4 cut grain, The Sipo mahogany neck has a 2 way truss rod, 12 inch radius Laurelwood frettboard, gold fret wire, golden age tuners, cast tailpiece, Ivroid body binding, black walnut headplate with wildwood flower shell inlay. Pick guard is black walnut as well. Varnish is warm dark brown sunburst over a golden amber ground, hints of red, transparent. 

 

Body length  = 428 mm or 16 & 13/16"

Body width = 342 mm or 13 & 1/2" 

Side heights = 70 mm or 2 & 3/4"

String length = 514 mm or 20 & 1/4"

Nut width = 36 mm or 1 & 3/8"
