Maybelle Octave Mandolin
An heirloom quality, artist class octave mandolin, made in the format of the 1920's Gibson L5 F hole guitars. Rich, resonant, open tone, with a very comfortable 20 & 1/4" string length. Back and sides of beautifully figured catalpa, top of finest Canadian Engelmann Spruce, wide even 1/4 cut grain, The Sipo mahogany neck has a 2 way truss rod, 12 inch radius Laurelwood frettboard, gold fret wire, golden age tuners, cast tailpiece, Ivroid body binding, black walnut headplate with wildwood flower shell inlay . Pick guard is black walnut as well. Varnish is warm dark brown sunburst over a golden amber ground, hints of red, transparent.
